Nothing says summer like the state fair, and that is where we are headed this Sunday. Of course we are going to see the pigs and eat something fried on a stick and devour a creme puff (all state fair musts), but we are also going to check out the #RedCupShowdown with Jeff Mauro at Seattle’s Best booth. I’m not gonna lie, kind of excited to try the Cotton Candy Mocha.
Here are the deets:
Because nothing says red, white and delicious like the State Fair, ‘Sandwich King’ Jeff Mauro is teaming with Seattle’s Best Coffee to host the Red Cup Showdown – a coast-to-coast search at state fairs and on Facebook to find the most imaginative new coffee drink. The competition is kicking off LIVE at the Wisconsin State Fair where local cooks will battle for the blue ribbon. Come watch the action unfold as cooks brew their new coffee drink ideas on-site for judging.
The Wisconsin State Fair finalist will be sent to New York City to compete for the grand prize against finalists from the Ohio, California, Illinois and Iowa state fairs as well as one Facebook finalist. In addition to a trip to the Big Apple in late August, the Wisconsin finalist will receive $500 and free coffee for a year.
Sunday, August 5, Noon – 2:00 p.m.
The Horticulture Craft and Culinary Pavilion at the Wisconsin State Fair
Jeff Mauro, winner of the seventh season of Food Network Star, graduated from California’s Hollywood Kitchen Academy, and has worked in the food industry since high school in various roles, including line cook, caterer and chef instructor. After pursuing a career as an entertainer and comedian in Los Angeles, Jeff returned to Chicago to spend time doing what he loves: cooking. His down-to-earth personality coupled with his comic skills make a great combination in the kitchen. In his Food Network cooking show, Sandwich King, Jeff proves you can turn any meal into a sandwich and any sandwich into a delicious meal.
I hope to see all my Wisconsin readers there. Be sure to flag me down (I will be the one with the tall husband, crazy kids and food all over my shirt/face) and say hi. We can lift our cotton candy mocha glasses and do a cheers to state fairs and blog fun. I, of course, cannot wait to update you on the trip. Be sure to drop me a line if you are going to there.
To all my other state friends, Did any of you make it to see the #RedCupShowdown? They are off to Illinois next.
