This is sponsored post, but all ideas, images and opinions are 100% my own.
I was lucky enough to get a box of Martha Stewart Crafts for some holiday crafting. I was most excited to work with the decoupage. I have heard rave reviews from some of my blogging friends and couldn’t wait to get my hands on some. It is dishwasher safe–so imagine the possibilities! This stuff is so fantastic, there are no streaks, tackiness or milky haze. This decoupage is the stuff!
I had a bulb box–as in, it once held tulip bulbs– that was sitting on my bookshelf. I felt like it could use a little love! This would make the cutest holiday gift too! You could fill it with books or themed goodies like some coffee mugs, hot chocolate mixes, marshmallows, etc. Did you know you can buy wood boxes from the craft store for so cheap? It totally makes your rethink your delivery method, huh? Kind of cool when the box is a gift in and of itself.
This really was the simplest project ever. I did it on the kitchen table Saturday afternoon while the kids were hanging around the house.
I picked out a few of these gorgeous Martha Stewart metallic doilies, decoupage and the 3/4 brush. I painted the decoupage on to the back of the doily, stuck it on the box–pressed and smoothed, and then put a coat of decoupage over the top and done. Let it dry and then took a moment to ooh and ahh at my fancy new box.
I didn’t cut the doilies at all. Wherever they were met with an edge, I just folded them over that edge.
See how it just wraps around the corner and the top. Didn’t I tell you this was the easiest project ever?
The perfect piece of pizazz for my bookshelf, hey?
I kind of want to decoupage everything now.
I know that I received these products, but I promise you I am really that in love with the decoupage and I highly doubt you will be disappointed if you add this to your crafting arsenal. Anyone try it yet? What did you think?
