Five Things Friday

Holy smokes! It is Friday again.

Didn’t mean to leave you hanging for a whole week. Check out last weeks, the inaugural, Five Things Friday.

1. I’ve become obsessed with painting my nails. There are two parts to this. In the past I couldn’t wait long enough for them to dry. I always ended up smudging them or waking up with sheet lines in them. My amazing readers/community on Facebook recommended this top coat* and it changed my nail-painting-life. You put it on wet nails, dries super fast and hard and finally… can go on!

I’ve also found that it is a good way to entertain myself in the evening and beats stuffing my face.

My vision of cute confetti nails didn’t exactly work out.

2. We went to the library earlier this week. We were actually there for a kid music program. I managed to grab some books. I took everything off their shelves by Mo Willems, because the kids are a big fan of the Pigeon series* and my students were a big fan of his books. I think I found the kids most favorite book ever–Knuffle Bunny*. I mean, I’ve never seen them love a book so much. Do you know this book? We will be buying it for sure.

3. We bought a new rug. It is from Rugs USA. I’m not entirely sure what to think about it. It is our first ever wool rug. It said it would shed for two months, and it is shedding! Hopefully that only last 2 months. If it does, I’m happy. Any of you have experience with wool rugs?

4. POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it.

Now that I have that disclosure out of the way, I wanted to tell you how amazing it was to come home to this box on my doorstep. It is like my best girlfriend sent me a care package with all her favorite things.

Here is a fun promo code for my fabulous readers:

5.  I went on a date with Hudson. The older two went off to a sleepover.
Actually, as I type this, Ross is driving to pick up Eleanor. She chickened out. We even tried face-timing her. She was so conflicted and so badly wanted to stay, but she just couldn’t get over her fear.
Anyways, with the two of them busy with their aunt, I had the afternoon with just Hudson. It was wonderful! He never gets that kind of attention and I really enjoyed it. I think he did too! We went to the zoo and out to dinner with daddy and played in the living room until bed time. I think I need to start dating my children. Do you do that?

Five very random life happenings. Please feel free to share a few of your own things.

I love Knuffle Bunny! I need to buy the books as well but I was introduced to then as I was earning my teaching degree. My mother-in-law works do dates with her kids. She had 8 kids so they usually were only 15 minutes long and they had a dollar to spend! Her kids loved it!

That is such a wonderful idea, because really—it doesn’t have to be long or be crazy elaborate to make them feel special. I also just found out there are more Knuffle Bunny books–did you know that?

I can vouch for the rug! I have one, and it shed for more than two months … but it stopped, and it’s been a MARVELOUS rug. It’s held its color, it’s so comfy under our feet, and it’s added so much interest to our den. Highly recommend, and I think you’ll end up being very happy with it!

    • Megan Bray

That is soooo good to hear. I hemmed and hawed over buying it and was so worried that I made the wrong decision. The shedding has already slowed up a lot!

  • katherine_at_grass_stains

Oh, and I’ll add that I am so happy with the rug that I’ve since bought two more in different patterns to put in two other rooms in our house. All from RugsUSA, all wool, in different colorways and different patterns. Very happy with all three!

I do dates with my kids every couple weeks and they and I love them!
