DIY Glitter Christmas Tree

Y’all probably remember from my post the other day, Snow Filled Mason Jar Holiday Hurricane, that I like to keep my holiday decor cheap and versatile. I am not dropping mad cash to get a holiday home for one month. None-the-less I want a festive home. What’s a girl to do? Get crafty! That’s what.

So my glitter Christmas trees aren’t exactly versatile…well, unless you ask Quinn. He said that it should be princess hate for Eleanor. But cheap they were. My quest for a snazzy tree started when I was roaming the aisles of Target-a very dangerous past time indeed. If I could, I would buy every.single.christmas.item they have. Let’s be real though, $20 on a sparkly tree? I don’t even want to know what the husband would have to say about that. He already doesn’t understand the beauty of Target clearance and why I HAVE to buy the blanket that is $9.99. That store does things to me, I tell ya. I’m just waiting for the Nate collection to get marked down.

So simple--the kids could do it. DIY glitter Christmas tree for a fraction of the cost.

I was roaming the aisles of JoAnn’s with sparkly trees on the brain when I spotted these plastic cones for dirt cheap. I have no idea what they are actually for, but when I saw them I thought Christmas tree!

The plastic cone, Mod Podge and Glitter (both of which I had on hand) got down to business to create this.

Here are some working on it shots.

I actually made five trees. I like things in odd numbers. Our make-shift console table, which we will get to some day, got the holiday treatment. A strand of garland and five homemade glitter trees did the trick. I sprayed the trees with some Mod Podge sealer to help keep the glitter in place. Rumor has it hairspray does the trick too.

I love me some glitter. Gotta have a little sparkle in your holiday decor. So what is sparkling at your house?
