Now that tearing out the carpeting, painting trim, painting walls, and putting down new carpeting are done, we can get to the fun part: DECORATING! This is my favorite part of any project. Putting a room together. I just want to say I am a bit sad about moving Eleanor out of her room, the nursery. We worked pretty hard to make it special.
We wanted to incorporate as much of her former room as we could, without being married to it. The mirrors and the picture frames above the chair made the move. The frames, along with one from my dining room shelf (to make a set of 3), were filled with fruit.
She woke up every morning saying, “apple, pear, apple”, so we knew we needed to incorporate those into the space. The 18×24 frames were way to large for the walls in her room, it being a finished attic and all. The fruit will most likely get filled with robots made by the hubs for the baby’s robot nursery. The apple/pear combo got reworked to fit her new room. We sized them down to fit an 8×10 opening and updated the colors by pulling from the colors in her drapes (our inspiration)
We hear her over the baby monitor saying, “apple, pear, apple” so we know she appreciates our effort to bring a little of her old room to her new. For fun, lets check out a before of that corner.
We also dressed up the other corner with her mirrors and a new light fixture, of course. I had the light on during photos so it ends up just looking like a glowing ball.
I love the whimsy, girly feel it adds to the space. That long narrow mirror is low enough for Eleanor to admire herself in it and admire herself she does!

There has been very little, okay fine, NO progress on the nursery. With only 6 weeks to go, we definitely need to get our butts in gear. Somehow, in the next 6 weeks I will host a shower, attend a baby shower, a wedding, a 60th wedding anniversary party, and celebrate Easter. My weekends are quickly filling up. What kind of project have you taken on lately? Anyone else under the gun to get something done?
