Bruce, our Elf on the Shelf, is back. He was a gift to us last year. We had so much fun with him, he is officially a tradition around here. The kids love it. The kid’s are encouraged to tell Bruce what they want for Christmas, much like writing a letter to Santa. We often refer to Bruce as a stinker and we certainly don’t use him as a form of parenting. When we started doing Elf on the Shelf last year I really didn’t know anyone doing it or much about it. It seemed like fun, much like decorating a tree, baking cookies or secret Santa and we are ALWAYS up for fun. This year it seems like just about everyone is doing Elf on the Shelf. Hopefully your family and, more importantly, your children are enjoying Elf on the Shelf as much as we are.
Bruce just showed up after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was so early this year, I DON’T KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING! From now on, Bruce doesn’t come until December 1st. Turns out Quinn (who was 3) remembers just about every.single.thing Bruce did last year. I think that is pretty cool that it was that memorable of an experience for him, but it makes it a tad harder to be original. It took Quinn almost the entire day to notice Bruce hanging out on the wreath the first day. When he saw him he was so excited. Every single morning since, a report on Bruce is the VERY first thing we hear about. Unfortunately, Bruce spent one night in the same place. Whoops! (#elfontheshelffail) We just mentioned how he looked mighty cozy in the stocking and Quinn agreed.
Without further ado, here is what Bruce has been up to.
We shared Elf on the Shelf ideas in four parts last year: here, here, here, and here. We also had an Elf on the Shelf ideas roundup and post about saying goodbye to our Elf on the Shelf. For more holiday ideas click on over to check out the holiday project gallery.
