Organizing the Junk Drawer

How many posts could one person have on a junk drawer? A few–apparently!

JUNK-DRAWER

I blame the husband. He is always adding things to it that do not go there. Things he takes up from the basement or out of the garage for a project, but then doesn’t feel like putting back in garage or basement and drops them off in the junk drawer.

I love my husband a lot and I happen to think he is funny. Even when he is annoying me, he amuses me. He told me I shouldn’t call it a junk drawer if I don’t want junk in it.

touche.

I started this project like any good organizing project and completely emptied the drawer.

We had a toy that had been sitting there waiting to be fixed, so I fixed it.

I thought about what we use regularly and want to keep handy. A few basic tools, tape, pencils, papers, etc.

The stuff that didn’t belong got put away, and the rest was sorted–like things together.

JUNK-DRAWER-1

The thing about a home that you live in is you can never do something just once. You have to go back on a regular basis and sort, toss, donate. Like all things in life–It is easier to keep up then to catch up.

JUNK-DRAWER-ORGANIZER

I have mentioned a few times that one of the things I’m really focusing on as of late is ME! In the last 4 weeks I have lost 18 lbs! I have a lot further to go, but a switch went off and I know I can do it. I finally went through my closet. I boxed up all the maternity clothes and got rid of the ugly clothes and kept just what I absolutely love. At the moment–none of it fits me. I know it will though. I also bought those skinny velvet hangers. That was a game changer! I think I might hit up some Memorial day sales for maxi dresses for the summer. Seems like I good thing to invest in as I lose weight.

Have you been sorting/organizing any spaces lately?
