I was lucky enough to get to rock some of Jen Hadfield’s Home + Made line (Tatertots & Jello). I guest posted over there, doing my own little Anthro inspired recipe box. If you didn’t catch it over at Tatertots & Jello, I will be posting the details soon.
I got a nice little box of goodies to create with. The recipe box, of course, inspired these printable recipe cards.
That, of course inspired, these printable recipe cards for marriage. Perfect for a wedding shower or to include in a gift for a wedding or anniversary.
I was clearly in recipe/food/organization mode so when I saw this amazingly cute little chalkboard in my box of goodies, I instantly thought, menu board!
It seriously doesn’t get any easier then this. Stick thickers on the board, fill in menu with chalk, hang and every time someone asks you, “what’s for dinner?”, just point. They will undoubtedly continue to ask, but at least you wont be as frazzled when they do. I completely used the actual sticker pad as my guide. I just lined the pad up with my chalkboard and used the spacing of the stickers on the pad to guide where I put my stickers.
I know this is about is simple as it gets, but it works and sometimes we just need simple.
Our menu board is hanging across from our little kitchen command center on the side of the cabinet.
I really find the menu board helpful now that fall is in full swing. With school, soccer and dance–assigning meals to specific nights and making sure my husband and I are on the same page is really important. By the time the kids come home they are starving, exhausted and it is nearing bedtime so dinner needs to be simple or the kind of meal that has been prepped ahead of time.
We flirted with the idea of feeding the kids pre-activities, but that was too early and it meant no more family dinners since dad wasn’t even home from work yet. Feeding them post-activities is really pushing it with everyone’s patience so a good plan is our best friend.
On top of that, my gestational diabetes makes meal planning even harder. We eat spaghetti weekly. I just do it over Zucchini noodles instead of regular noodles. Simple enough substitution. Mexican is also our friend, because it is low carb and easy enough for me to make substitutions where needed. I feel like we eat the same thing every week!
I would love to know what your favorite go-to family meals are. Especially, on busy activity nights.
