It is no secret, I am not the biggest fan of cooking. I love a good presentation though. Playing around with a pretty table setting is my kind of fun.
I had the luxury of receiving a gift card to World Market in the mail. I jumped at the opportunity to pick up a few pieces for my dining room. Fun fact, my table is actually from World Market. My husband and I stumbled upon it, on clearance, when walking through World Market right after we were married. It was the first piece of furniture we bought. For a while we had the table, some folding chairs around it and a Wisconsin bucket chair from my husband’s college apartment. What was the first piece of furniture you bought?
I digress. Due to a slight snafu we were down to one plain white drapery panel in the dining room. It had been driving me crazy. I saw those drapery panels at World Market and I fell in love with them. The fun colors and bold pattern add some much needed personality to my dining room. I also grabbed 4-pack of napkins, 4 plate chargers, chips, and the MOST GORGEOUS bowl ever.
Confession: I bought blue corn tortilla chips so that they would pop against the wood bowl. Don’t judge. To create a fun table I rolled out some of Quinn’s easel paper. It is a great way to label dishes, seats, etc., but it is also fun to color on while sitting at the table.
If you put guacamole in a mortar it looks all fancy and homemade, even if all you did was squeeze it out of a package. Did you know that burritos are my favorite entertaining food ever! All you have to do is brown meat (minimal cooking). The rest is just cutting (I can handle that). Plus, everyone puts their own burrito together so I don’t have to worry about messing it up. Another bonus: if someone is on gluten free diet you can serve corn tortillas and vegetarians can load up on beans and veggies and guac and everyone wins. So if you are invited over for dinner, guess what we are having?
The drapes completely frame the table, and act as quite the gorgeous backdrop. Don’t you think? And I cannot even begin to tell you how obsessed I am with that bowl. It actually made it into the fall mantle too, which I will be sharing tomorrow. A little F.Y.I., I made that rope vase.
I had so much fun shopping at World Market. Truth be told, I am crushing on a million things there. Not surprising, since it isn’t hard to do. Unfortunately for me, the nearest World Market is 45 minutes away. Right now World Market has a Gourmet Getaway Sweepstakes:
**Grand Prize package includes:
- A trip for two to to Santa Fe, New Mexico (this is a 5 day Trip for 2 to Santa Fe which includes airfare and hotel)
- Hands on Southwestern Cooking class with Master Chef

- Multi-course dinner at the acclaimed Geronimo
- Southwestern Foodie Tour with a cultural kick
- A $1,000 World Market gift card
** There will also be 3 runner up prize winners that will each receive a $500 World Market gift card!
**The Gourmet Getaway Sweepstakes runs from August 18, 2012 until September 21, 2012.
**If you share the sweepstakes with 5 of your friends (via FB share or email) you can receive 5 additional bonus entries. This is part of the registration process when entering. Users can also enter daily for more chances to win.
Umm…I plan on winning this one. Sorry. Can you imagine how much I would benefit from a hands on Southwestern Cooking class with a master chef? Don’t even get me started on what I would do with that $1,000.00 gift card. The last time I went on a trip was over six years ago for my honeymoon! How about you? Could you use a cooking class? How many seconds would you need to spend that $1,000 gift card?
If you dig World Market’s style you can follow them on Pinterest. You can also find World Market on Twitter, Facebook and Google+
So I have to know: Are you the one fussing over the table are you the one fussing in the kitchen? Or maybe you are both.
