This spring we did a little dining room update. I decided I was tired of decorating around a mirror and even worse, photographing into a mirror. Since so much of what we do with this space revolves around decorating for holidays and parties, I knew I wanted to put something up that lent itself to decorating.
I had grand plans to build this massive chalkboard. We even started picking out materials. Then one day while perusing Hobby Lobby, I saw a chalkboards and thought—a trip tic. With 40% off, the husband and I determined we could buy three boards for around the price of making one. With three kids–it just seemed like the smart thing to do.
I used this Deco Art paint to give the chalkboard a more finished look. The chalkboards went up right before Hudson’s birthday and were decorated for his party and then Eleanor’s party.
When it finally got time to not have party decor up, I had no idea what to do with the chalkboards. I was perusing Pinterest, of course, and I stumbled upon a dining room with chalkboards and a wine list. I don’t exactly need a list of wines to try at the moment.
But it got the wheels spinning. I decided to create a list that better suited our family– a summer to do list!
I quite literally cannot believe that this fall Quinn will be starting school. This makes this summer legit. We have to squeeze in everything we possibly can. I still feel a bit uneasy about him starting school, but I’m quite sure that is natural.
Summer is summer, so regardless–we are going to enjoy it. I hate that feeling that time got away from me and I didn’t make the most of it, hence the list. We made it together. One of the first things Quinn said was “take a walk with my cousin Finley”. Funny how simple it is for them, huh?
I feel like I need to add something to the console and style it in some way, but for now–this is how it looks.
Will any of you be making summer to do lists? What is on your list for this summer?
