That Time a Rap Song Made Me Cry + a Weight Loss Update

Busting a move at my wedding

On one super extraordinarily rare night I was out by MYSELF (soak that up for a minute) doing a Target run or something of that nature. After driving solo listening to the ABC’s and the Itsy Bitsy Spider for sometime I realized I was alone and I didn’t have to sing along to kid music. I put on the radio and that song Apple Bottom Jeans by T-Pain was on.

Shawty had them Apple Bottom Jeans [Jeans]
Boots with the fur [With the fur]
The whole club was lookin at her
She hit the flo [She hit the flo]
Next thing you know
Shawty got low low low low low low low low

That song is a jam. You know the kind that makes you wanna dance. Suddenly I was overcome with so much emotion. When was the last time I danced? I love to dance?

I know this probably seems ridiculous to some, but I LOVE to dance. I went to high school dances alone, because heaven forbid I miss a chance to bust a move. I was the last one off of the dance floor at prom. I took tap, jazz and ballet for years. I was on the dance team my freshman year of high school.  I would go to dance clubs with friends in high school. I spent hours dancing to Britney, and N’Sync in my bedroom. I was on the dance floor all night at every wedding. Dancing brought me so much joy and suddenly I was saddened by the fact that I don’t do something that brings me so much joy.

I don’t dance, because I am uncomfortable in my own skin. I don’t dance, because I am overweight. I don’t dance because I am self-conscious.

I cannot tell you how good it feels to be dancing again. When I do Just Dance 4, I am in the privacy of my own home so I don’t have to feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. I feel like I am right back on the dance team again. I cannot wait to drop this weight, pick out a killer outfit and hit the dance floor again. Oh clothes….but that is a post for another time.

This weeks results:

Weight: -2.6 lbs

Bust: -1.5 inches

Waist: -2 inches

Hips: -.5 inches

Let us keep in mind that I look about 6 months pregnant so there are LOTS of inches to lose from the waist. LOTS!

I share more of my thoughts in this video:

I would love to know how this week went for any of you who decided to make changes. Admit it! You danced to Britney in your room too. You know you did.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
