I have been pinning and pinning away (don’t forget, you can follow me on Pinterest). One thing that keeps catching my eye are these bookshelf walls. I knew I wanted to incorporate this element into Quinn’s room, but I didn’t want it to cost a lot and frankly I didn’t feel like building anything. We were shopping around the hardware store when we saw that gutters are actually quite affordable. Ten feet for six bucks (steal!). We decided we would build our bookshelf using gutters. I know, I know… hanging gutters in our son’s room doesn’t sound lovely, but I had a vision.
Now the cool thing about gutters is you can by end caps, hangers and corner pieces which can make configuring and hanging them a breeze. We were too cheap to buy any of these. Another bonus is they are made to withstand the elements; so one would reason they would hold up in a toddler’s room. For less then $20 we scored enough gutters (and then some) to complete our project. We simply measured, cut (we used a chop saw, but you could cut them by hand) and drilled directly through the gutter into the wall. Remember this entire thing was less than $20.
