Sometimes adding color to your space can feel a little overwhelming. A pop of color is a great way to liven up a space. In this case a little goes a long way. There are some tricks to keep your space looking chic. I looked to the world wide web to offer some samples of pops of color done well.
I love the way the coral pops, but at the same time is so integrated in the room. One trick that seems to make the color feel intentional and integrated is to repeat it three times. In this case there is a splash of coral on the couch (pillow and throw) a splash from the chairs and just a bit from the tray on the coffee table.
In this dining room the upholstered chairs, drum shade and flowers are green and add the pop to an otherwise neutral room. I love a colored chair in an eating space to liven it up. Colored chairs are on my wish list for around my table.
In this office space the deep red pops for me. The deep red only shows up on the lamp shade, flowers and the stripe in the window treatments. Like I said, a little can go a long way.
I love how the space above and below both read as yellow even though they only have a few yellow pieces. The above image gets its pop from the two drum shades and throw while the image below gets its pop from drapes, a side table and a piece of art.
The back of the shelves, chair and flowers add a cheery punch to this space. Sometimes I take my own advice too. Check out the picture below:
So it is not quite as inspiring as the above spaces, but it does have a pop of blue in the pillows, pictures and pot. So what kind of DIY tips and tricks can you take away from this?
– Three is your friend. If you add color in threes it looks intentional and integrated.
– Drum shades are a great way to add color (you can even cover a plain one with fabric yourself).
– Pillows and throws are your friends.
– The inside of a bookshelf, hutch or cabinet is a great place to add a pop of color.
– An accent chair in a fun color is a great way to add sophisticated flair to your space.
– Window treatments can be a fun place to take a risk. (Unless your small house has 22 windows like mine. Then it becomes an expensive risk).
So there you have it. We have been schooled by the world wide web. Hope this inspires you to punch up your space with some color.
