This might quite literally be my most embarrassing post yet. If have been following this blog for a while, you probably have heard me mention our basement. I have said it could nail me a spot on a show about hoarders. You may have thought I was being dramatic, but I wasn’t. These photos were shot last March. The basement probably wasn’t even at its worse then.
Oh my word! (hangs head in shame) I really don’t know how this happened. We moved in and odds and ends went to the basement. We gutted our kitchen and stuff went to the basement. We had kids and switched rooms to nurseries and stuff went to the basement. At some point it became so overwhelming I just avoided going down there. No matter how clean or pulled together the rest of the house was, there was this nagging feeling when it came to the basement. I honestly never thought we would ever get to it. With two kids and a third one on the way, the day to day stuff seemed hard enough to keep caught up on. Finding extra time, patience and willpower for the basement seemed impossible.
Then one day I snapped. I just started. I got it stuck in my head that I was going to clean out one section, and I did. Little by little we were making a dent. Half the basement was done! The laundry area, work space and storage area were still a complete disaster. When Trinity asked for bloggers to use their products for an organization project I was all, “PICK ME! PICK ME!”. Aside from browsing their site and falling in love with all of their products and wanting to order 10 of everything, I knew that being held accountable for this post would kick my butt in gear. I was starting to loose my motivation. Any guesses as to when this post is due? Yeah, I saved it until the bitter end, but I did do it!
Where you see a fridge, high chair and other randomness, that is now my craft space.
Before the husband and I tackled the work space I snapped a photo. Here is the before.
Pretty impressive, huh! When we finished Ross even commented that he has so much organization and storage space it looked like he had nothing now. The rickety shelf that was about to fall over and kill a child is gone and in it’s place is a very sturdy Trinity shelf. Our other amazing Trinity pick was a collection of organizational bins.
All those giant drawers were kind of a waste of space with no way to organize stuff. Ross used a bunch of the small red bins to sort and corral screws, tools, etc. Kinda perfect, huh? The larger gray bins help to keep other stuff organized.
We still have so much room on that shelf, that as Ross’s collection grows we have space to grow with it.
I loved the gray bins so much I snatched some for my craft space.
Little spots for labels and all. Then some closet organizers, washi tape, a peg board, folding tables and a hand-me down hutch did the trick.
I am so thankful for the extra storage and organization help these Trinity products gave me. It is hard to believe the difference! Because it was such hard work, lets look at it one more time :).
