One simple trick got our toddler to sleep through the night. With four kids, one being a brand new baby, you would think the baby was the one causing us to lose sleep. Turns out, it was our toddler!
Fiona is pretty much a rockstar sleeper. She might wake once for a quick feeding and then back to bed. Hudson, our nearly three-year-old had started waking up regularly and was no longer sleeping through the night.
After being a rock-solid sleeper for really long time, our toddler started appearing in our bed around three in the morning. He was sweet and snuggly and struggling to fall back to sleep.
The husband and I are were becoming really sleep-deprived and even worse–so was our toddler!! A sleep deprived toddler is no fun for anyone.
We already had black out shades/drapes, white-noise, a fan and an appropriate bedtime. We were struggling to figure out how to help our toddler sleep through the night.
After a little research, I stumbled on a simple trick to get my toddler to sleep through the night. This trick is so easy, doable and effective! I’m so excited to share it with you.
If you have a toddler who is suddenly waking up in the middle of the night, try this: Before you go to bed, go into your toddler’s room and disturb them.
If you are like me, this idea makes you nervous, because who wants to disrupt a sleeping toddler!? You aren’t looking to fully wake your toddler. Give them a little snuggle, adjust them in their bed and disturb them just enough that their sleep pattern shifts.
When Hudson was reaching the end of his sleep cycle, he was waking. By disturbing him enough to disrupt this pattern, he is able to sleep through the night again.
We have been doing this for months now and it works! If you are finding a toddler in your bed, unable to sleep through the night, give this trick a try!
