Today is my birthday. I am twenty-nine! Wow! Twenty-nine! When you are a kid birthdays are just a celebration. When you are an adult they become a marker of time that force you look back and reflect on your life. I don’t know if this is because my birthday falls so close to New Years or if all people reflect on their life and make plans for the years to come.
My last year of my twenties! Man, the twenties were full of all sorts of amazing firsts. I met my husband weeks after I turned twenty. There were the good old college days followed by college graduation. I got married, got my first job, got my first apartment, got my first car, got my first house, had my kids. I also went on to sell that brand new car, quit my job, and start this blog. That is just how life goes, I suppose. A cycle. We sure crammed a lot into this decade and a lot of it was all about growing up.
Does twenty-nine look like I thought it would? Pretty much. I thought I would have more money and be skinnier, neither of those have exactly panned out. I certainly didn’t think I would be blogging. When I was a senior in high school we had dial up internet and we had to wait until night to go on the internet so we wouldn’t tie up the phone line. Blogging was not on my radar. I sure am glad I found my way here and to each and every one of you. I love blogging and the opportunities it has brought my way.
I am pretty sure the thirties are going to be a whirlwind of: diapers, soccer practices, homework, school events and then BAM! The kids will be heading off to college, heading into their twenties and I will be a basket case, balling my eyes out wondering where did time go? I mean really, where did the time go? Sometimes I still feel like a kid and I look around at my family, my house and my life and wonder how I got here. Moments like that make me feel proud and blessed. I have everything in life a person could need (well except for a flat stomach and extra money).
So what does twenty-nine look like? Growth, that is what it looks like. I am growing, my blog is growing and each and every day I am learning new things. I put my life list in a post a bit back (you can check it out here) and things are starting to happen. I will be starting a photography class soon and today (for my birthday) I will be going to a cooking class. The cooking class is a gift from my parents. My husband and I will be attending with my brother and his wife. Should be fun! Now would be a good time to mention that I am a twin (hence, twin brother attending cooking class too).
Well now that you have stuck around for my random birthday musings you deserve a prize. Seriously, though, this is my office and you are suppose to bring a treat on your birthday. Enjoy this birthday printable. Use it to decorate a buddies cubicle, a friends locker, your house….wherever a little birthday cheer needs to be spread!
