DIY Memo Board

You may have noticed these memo boards in Eleanor’s Room. Today I am giving you the low down on how I made them. They were super simple and used supplies I already had on hand. I absolutely love a project I don’t have to go out and buy anything for.

I reuse, move and change things up all the time. When something doesn’t work where it was, I try to think of a better or different way of using it. These cork boards were above Eleanor’s crib when it was facing the other way. When I turned her crib I really didn’t need the extra row. It was kind of throwing the balance off. Go with me on this. So I decided to turn them into memo boards and give them a new home. It was a super simple project.

These cork boards are sold at Walmart. I covered them in fabric with my staple gun. Simple enough? That part was already done.

To do this project you need these goodies.

I measured the back and found the half way point on each edge. I marked that point with a pencil.

The next part is the “trickiest” part. Basically you just connect the center of each edge. The tricky part is you want the ribbons to meet at that point, not get stapled at that point. Am I making sense?

It looks like this on the front.

Then you just go from corner to corner.

Lastly, I used the upholstery tacks I had on hand (regular old bulletin board tacks would work too) and popped them in where the ribbons cross.

Slide in a few cute pics and you are in business. I can picture this in Eleanor’s room when she is 13. It will be filled with soccer badges, photos with friends, and pictures of that latest boy band superstar.

Clearly, you could rock a memo board for ANY room in your house. Any of you find ways to rework something in your house lately?
