I have been working on putting together my fall “mantle”, which is really a shelf in the dining room, because I don’t have the luxury of having a fireplace. At the end of the day mantles are just shelves, right? I started with my fall wreath (a huge improvement from last year’s fall wreath).
Obviously, we have a long way to go before this shelf reads fall. I decided it was time to find something fall-ish for the frames. When Ross came home from work on Thursday, I was all, “Hurry up and change. We have to drive out towards the country and take pictures while the lighting is still good.” Y’all might think I am crazy and I am pretty sure my husband does too, but he is the one who married me. Doesn’t say too much about his sanity, does it?
I can honestly say that running out and going on this little photography scavenger hunt was a blast. Honestly. Quinn was looking for cool stuff too. Someone would yell out, “I see a tractor!” And we would stop and snap some photos. I was amazed at how many beautiful and unique things there were to photograph only ten minutes away from home.
Here are some of the fall-ish shots I got.
I snapped the photos, but I left picking out the photos up to the hubs. It is our house and I like when he helps out in making the decisions. A little bit of a group effort. And ladies, if you tell him he gets to pick, then he gets to pick. No complaining or trying to talk him into a different photo. Got it. Any guesses which two pics he picked?
Unfortunately, we made the mistake of ordering the wrong size pictures for our frames (hangs head in shame). This means they are cropped a little funny and don’t look as cool as they could. When I get my
act shelf together, I will share pictures, of course.
Don’t worry, my family didn’t forgo dinner for my random lets-take-pictures-of-barns-and-farm-stuff excursion. We ended up stopping at Red Robin. Eleanor devoured her mac & cheese and oranges before the waitress even made it back to check on us. The waitress was in shock. What can I say, the girl can eat.
Yeah, she wasn’t so sure about that balloon. So any of you bum around your town, taking random photos? If you haven’t, I highly recommend it. It is a super fun way to find beauty around you and decorate your home in a meaningful and affordable way.
