Things I Failed to Blog

As I am sharing pictures here and there, I am realizing there are things I never blogged about. Little updates and tweaks here and there–Like the addition of this wall mounted lamp to our TV gallery wall — that I never told you about.

That little addition not only added light, but freed up some space on the console for my Scentsy warmer and a wood bowl to hold all the remotes.

Maybe I mentioned the new rug? It felt super risky to buy a patterned rug, but I love how it looks. The big arrow in the background is new too. Popped up on one of those deal sites and I had to have it!

I just keep piling on all the pillows, all the colors, all the patterns. A bunch of them are H&M finds–super affordable pillow covers– or TJ Maxx.

We got a “new” table from Goodwill and it totally needs to be refinished. We left a pizza box on the table during the Badger game and it left a white mark on the table. Just one sign that the finish is going. I’m crazy nervous about tackling this job. We have one table in our house and it is where we do EVERYTHING! Eat, craft, homework. It needs to hold up to a family of 5 and that includes a 6, 3 and 1 y.o. I am also dying to get new kitchen chairs. These top-heavy ones tip over way to easily and just aren’t kid friendly. I have been swooning over some molded plastic ones. What do you think?

One of the most noticeable differences that I never blogged about are my curtains.

LIVING-ROOM-UPDATES

Just plain old white for dirt cheap from Ikea. Ironic, since one of my most popular posts are these stenciled curtains and this stenciled faux roman blind. I loved those curtains and was super proud of that project. I just could not take having high water curtains anymore. It bugged me so much. I wanted curtains I could hang high and came all the way to the floor. So out went the stenciled curtains and in came the long ones. Do I kick myself for buying short curtains and then spending hours stenciling them? Why yes, yes I do.

It is kind of embarrassing how excited I am about the clock screensaver. I have wanted this for the longest time and there wasn’t an update to go with the newest software. There finally is and I actually have a clock in my living room now!

GIVE-THANKS-MUG

I picked up this mug from TJ Maxx, which leads me to a confession. Pretty mugs make me happy! I’ve been meaning to DIY a few too. I’ve had the pens for a long time, but just haven’t found the right plain mug.

Tweaked things on this console a bit. I did share that flower pot a bit back though.

The canvas bins that once held toys on the bookshelf have been replaced with baskets. The children more or less crushed the poor things. They never stood a chance.

FALL-TO-DO-LIST

I painted the front hall closet doors with chalkboard paint. While I was doing the Fall to do list, Eleanor was busy making hers. She came over and said, “Mom, can you read books in the fall?” to which I responded yes. Then I hear her saying, “read books” as she scribbles on the door. I’ve kept it up out of respect for her efforts and because everytime I look at it, it makes me smile. I realize not everyone is meant to live with scribbles on their closet doors, but this season of my life is so fleeting.

FALL-FRONT-DOOR

I put a berry wreath on my door– that should count for something, right?

And of course, there is the desk I told you about yesterday. Would you believe I have already turned it and “restyled it”? Probably. What little tweaks have you been up to? Take on any new projects?
