When I was a junior in college my now husband–then boyfriend–gave me a potted plant. That was nearly a decade ago and now the pot looks like this.
It was broke down to say the least. The plant was still viable, but it was definitely ready for a new home. We were at the Home Depot grabbing other supplies for various projects and the terra cotta flower pots caught my eye. Seemed like just the right size for my plant and very affordable.
Much better, right? Man! I don’t know why it took me so long to take care of this, but I am so happy with the results. I primed the pot and saucer. Then I gave the pot a coat of glossy white. I focused on the top half, since I knew the bottom half would be going gold.
Taping off the pot is a bit tricky. To keep a straight line, I had to piece together smaller pieces of tape that overlapped. Then I taped a shopping bag over the top to protect the white.
The gold paint is Rustoleum Universal Metallic Champagne Mist. I am in love with how it turned out. My plant looks a million times better already–it finally has space to grow!
Definitely a super simple project that requires little money and is 100% functional.
Any of you hanging on to something from the hubs? Have you made a simple project lately?
