Getting Healthy, Losing Weight & Tea Time

I’m sharing how tea has helped me make healthier choices as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®  I became a tea drinker when I started trying to lose weight and I am sharing how it has helped me.

At the start of this summer I found myself drinking a lot of soda. It was all diet, but it was becoming a bad habit. I grew up on milk and water. Eventually I became a casual soda drinker and before I knew it I was drinking 4-5 a day! Whenever we ate something that tasted good with soda–pizza, popcorn, a sub, chips and salsa–I found myself drinking soda.

Then one day it hit me–I had 5 sodas today! So I quit. Cold turkey. I haven’t had a single soda in 4 months.

After dropping my soda habit, I decided it was time to start dropping the baby weight. So I started exercising and watching what I was eating. All of which are really, really hard. This getting healthy stuff is exhausting. I have 3 kids who exhaust me. I feel like I am being pulled in a million directions and the last thing I want to do at the end of the day is exercise. I want to plop on the couch and stuff my face and watch TV. Anyone else?

They say you don’t break a habit, you just replace it with another and that is exactly what I did.

At night–as I blog, enjoy TV and unwind I find myself wanting to eat. Just a little snack! Eating isn’t going to help me reach my goals (You can read more about weight loss here). So I started drinking tea. I’ve really enjoyed the variety of flavors Bigelow Tea offers. My favorite thus far is probably the Pomegranate Black Tea.

Drinking tea works for me because it is a hot drink, it takes time to drink and junk food doesn’t really taste so good with tea, which saves me a lot of late night calories.

Now I have grown to really enjoy my nightly cup of tea. It has become a nice way to relax and unwind at the end of a very long day.

When it comes to losing weight it is an entire lifestyle makeover. It is the little things that add up to make big changes. I am working hard at making those little changes.

Next up: Getting to bed at a decent hour. Says the girl writing a post at 11 at night.

What habits are you working on breaking? How are you making healthy changes? Any other tea drinkers? What is your favorite flavor?

Check out more about my experience in my Google+ album. You can learn more about Bigelow Tea by checking our their website and their blog and you can connect with them on Facebook & Twitter.

You can download the tea printable below. It is sized to an 8×10.
