Today is my thirtieth day in a row of blogging. That is a really big deal for me, which I explained at the start of this challenge. I am doing a year worth of 30 day challenges all in attempts to better myself.
Challenge one: Whole30
Challenge two: Thirty days straight of blogging.
Challenge three: Undecided, but you should join me. We can start on November 1st.
Here are five things I have learned from challenging myself for 30 days.
1. No mental acrobatics.
The decision has been made! I AM doing this for 30 days. Sometimes it really is that simple. The internal turmoil and justification and am I or aren’t I or I can do it tomorrow–gone. Bargaining with yourself all day is exhausting. It is one of those things you probably do more of then you even realize. Sometimes it is wonderful to just have the decision made. Less thinking about it, less talking about it and more doing. It is good for the soul.
2. Pushing past my comfort zone.
Taking on a challenge for 30 days pushes you. When I started this blogging challenge, I didn’t know what I was going to write about the next day, let alone for the next 30 days. I had to dig deep. I wrote posts that I probably would have never written. I would have kept those thoughts and experiences to myself.
3. Feeling accomplished.
When you do something consistently you start to feel like you are getting somewhere and it feels good. It feels good to check off a day (check out our printable here). Success breeds success and you kind of get addicted to being awesome.
4. Seeing results.
In this world of instant gratification, we often don’t give things long enough to work. Just about anything, done consistently over time has the power to give you results. I’ve watched my pageviews rise, received more comments, interacted more with readers and gained more reach on social media. Comments/interaction is my jam so feel free to leave them often–I love hearing from you guys. Obviously I saw results on Whole30 too.
You probably aren’t surprised to here that when you quiet your mind, push past your comfort zones, feel accomplished and start seeing results that you start to feel confident. That is an amazing feeling. With each 30 day challenge, I hope to feel a little more confident in that area of my life.
