A Frozen Birthday Party

Eleanor, along with every other child, is obsessed with Frozen. She knows every word to every song. The soundtrack is on repeat in our car. She also knows every hand gesture, hair flip and stomp of the Let it Go scene. Elsa is her favorite, because “she has the powers”.

Like every other soon to be three year old she also knows what she wants and she wanted a Frozen Birthday party. I tried to talk her out of it, but it wasn’t happening. There just isn’t a very big variety of Frozen stuff and what little there is, is hard to find.

Colors and snowflakes wasn’t going to cut it for Eleanor. She needed to see her Frozen friends that she had fallen in love with. I did my best and in the end, I think she felt pretty special.

The treats are white, blue or purple.  Eleanor was most excited for the marshmallows.

I bought the little cupcake flags at Hobby Lobby and glued on the little snow flake charms. I also found those snowflakes at Hobby Lobby.

My mom made the cake pops–they were a huge hit. I didn’t have any, because I didn’t lose 20lbs eating cake pops. The fun Frozen characters came from a sticker book I found at Walmart. Ross put them on the foam board and cut around them with a knife.

I also found the fruit snacks at Walmart.

I cut the snowflakes using my Cricut and made the tassel garland from a package of tissue paper using this technique. We used the same font for Eleanor’s name as the movie. Fun touch, hey? Husband was in charge of that one.

Eleanor really lit up when everyone sang happy birthday to her. She really enjoyed her birthday party. She needed a little help from her big brother on the candle front.

I was able to find plates, napkins and party blowers that were Frozen themed.

Have you ever seen a little girl open up presents and enjoy them with such style? I think not!

Aside from the treats, we served pizza. The night ended with a dance party–disco ball and all.

I’m still in shock that she is three. I love her so big. I love how hard she tries to do the right thing and how eager she is to please. I love that her heart is big.  She calls Hudson, “my baby”. She says adorable things like heartbeep and elbone. Watching her make sense of the world has been so much fun. From two to three I loved watching how her strong will and independence–still a big part of who she is–has been molded and shaped by her big heart, empathy and kindness.

She loves to have fun and dance and all things “girly”, but she is rough and tough and can handle herself in a group of boys.

There will never be words to capture my love and pride and the beauty and nuances I see in her. I really enjoyed celebrating her and am so very grateful and humbled to be her mom.
