Living Room Refresh for $100

September 5, 2016 by Megan 4 Comments

We had a bookshelf we inherited waiting to be painted, chalkboards hanging above a console because we had them and random stuff sitting on the console because that is what clean surfaces are for. My pillow covers were clashing with my carpet (online ordering error) and there were nail holes in desperate need of a patch and paint job. Last weekend I we put a little elbow grease in and around $100. I repotted a plant that desperately needed it and bought a basket at TJ maxx for $16 for the ...

Fall and Thanksgiving Printables

October 2, 2014 by Megan 5 Comments

Yesterday we said goodbye to summer and I really am ready to embrace fall now. I did a bit of decorating over the weekend. Pumpkins and warm, earthy smells. Everything feels so cozy! The watercolors in the frames certainly weren't giving me the warm, cozy, fall vibe I was going for. I had the hubs whip these up for me. So much better. Because my decorating is top-notch, I also added some pumpkins I got years ago on clearance for dirt cheap from Shopko and my deer head that I ...

December 11, 2013 by Megan 22 Comments

I know there are some bloggers out there rocking Christmas straight out of a Pottery Barn catalog and I'm all, look at my paper rings folks! I already blogged my dining room wall, which I like to consider the equivalent of my mantle. I also blogged about this fun kid project here. We left off with my complaining about the disaster and the diminishing daylight. And wouldn't you know it--I got that house clean and guess what? It was dark. Three kids live here. I wasn't leaving it up to ...

My Ever-Changing Dining Room Shelf

January 31, 2013 by Megan 4 Comments

Ever since we put this dining room shelf up (Christmas of 2011) a little over a year ago, it has become my go-to place for decorating. I love that I can see this shelf from the kitchen, dining room and living room. It makes my whole house feel festive and focusing most of my efforts on one wall gives me a lot of bang for my buck. I thought it would be fun to go back and check out the shelf's many transformations. Christmas Shelf Shelf Decor My Valentine Wall Eleanor's First ...

Mexican Chile by Behr

February 8, 2012 by Megan 23 Comments

Those of you who follow me on Facebook know that the new saying I have been chanting to myself is, "Go bold or go home!" Somehow I went from Grape Leaves in my kitchen to Glass Slipper and nothing else. Don't get me wrong, I love my Glass slipper, but I think I have been playing it too safe. The fun of the new couch and relatively neutral walls was I got to dress them up any way I please. Yet, somehow I ended up with a kind of plane Jane space that doesn't reflect my or my family's ...
